Our Staff:

Kurt M Kikuchi, Studio Owner

Dancing since the age of eleven, movement has always been a part of my life.  There was nothing I wanted to do more. It made me feel alive and it always felt so natural to move and explore what I could do with my body. Unfortunately, dancing professionally wasn’t in the cards, but fortunately, through dance I discovered Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method.  Discovering these two modalities opened up a world of self-discovery and a professional career I never knew existed.  It fulfilled my need to move while igniting a new passion for learning and teaching.  It began a lifetime educational journey that has included massage therapy school and a certification in Anatomy Train Structural Integration.
As my father would say, “Our family business is helping people.”  He, being a social worker, and my mom and sister both being teachers, I thought I would branch out of the family business and become a dancer.  Little did I know that I too would be destined to be in the ‘family business.’ I am in complete awe of the complexities of the human body and spirit and how movement can heal.  Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method are more than just exercise and Structural Integration is more than just bodywork, they are the tools that allow a person to heal from the inside out.  The tools that take the individual on a journey and process of self-discovery to better health.  I’d like to think of myself as your movement educator to help you connect to the wisdom that has been passed down to me.  I want to help you develop a practice that makes sense for you and fulfills something deeply personal that goes beyond our physical and emotional limitations.  I want to encourage you to find self-compassion and curiosity.  I want guide you along this journey to develop a friendly relationship with your physical body, intelligent mind and emotional spirit.  I want to inspire you to live a better life through movement and the healing power of touch.
It’s been said that when Michelangelo was 87, he wrote on a sketch “ancora imparo,” meaning “Still, I learn.”  After a lifetime of continual education there is still much, much more for me to learn and there will always be more to explore.  I am committed to continuously improving my education and teaching.  To remain adaptable, to better my craft, to refine the art that is movement as wellness and most importantly, to remain curious.
